Strikeforce recently reported record numbers for its broadcast of the heavyweight fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers. Now Strikeforce’s number could be set to grow, being that they have just signed a deal with Canada’s only national pay television network, Super Channel.

Super Channels Vice President of Programming Sandy Perkins made a statement about the deal.

“Super Channel is striving to offer Canadians programming they can’t get anywhere else and we saw an excellent opportunity in bringing live MMA to viewers from coast-to-coast and knew it would be well received. We are very pleased to add SHOWTIME Sports® and STRIKEFORCE MMA to our roster with an exclusive deal and will be rounding out our Super Channel Fights! line up. They are a great team to have in our corner.”

Super Channel will show Strikeforce evolution on December 19th. More than just an important deal for Strikeforce and Super Channel, it’s another step in the right direction and shows that in spite of some people still opposing it, mixed martial arts is becoming more and more mainstream.
