In the same week that the UFC sees a former NFL player earn a spot in the heavyweight final of The Ultimate Fighter, Strikeforce have announced the debut fight of former NFL player Herschel Walker, along with the returns of Nick Diaz and Cris “Cyborg” Santos at their January 30th show.
In a press release from Strikeforce, it is announced that Herschel Walker will be making his mixed martial arts debut on January 30th with Strikeforce. As well as this, Nick Diaz and female 145lb champ Cris “Cyborg” Santos will be making their returns to the promotion following long lay-offs after their last fights, both of which were triumphant.
Nick Diaz last fought at Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields, and after a tough war with Scott Smith, finally secured a submission victory in round three of the fight. “Cyborg”, of course, won the much publicised and hyped title fight with Gina Carano to capture the Strikeforce women’s 145lb title. |
