WEC bantamweight, Scott Jorgensen picked up an impressive win over former number one contender, Takeya Mizugaki tonight in Las Vegas, Nevada tonight at WEC 45, edging out the Japanese start after winning both rounds one and two.

Jorgensen got the better of the early exchanges, dropping Muzugaki with a right hook before looking for a guillotine choke. The Japanese star gets back to his feet and they exchange in the clinch. Jorgensen soon takes Mizugaki to the ground but he can’t hold him down and the fight soon returns to the feet. Both men exchange wildly and Jorgensen again drops Mizugaki to the canvas before raining down punches from the half guard. Mizugaki momentarily gives up his back before getting back to his feet and the pair exchange to end the round.

Mizugaki looks to be the aggressor in the second but Jorgensen soon takes the fight to the ground. The fight doesn’t stay there long and the pair engage in the clinch and jockey for position. Jorgensen again takes the fight to the ground but once again he can’t keep it there. Jorgensen scores with big punches before punishing Mizugaki in the clinch. Mizugaki rallies but Jorgensen again secures a takedown which he fails to capitalise on.

Mizugaki lands a nice right to open the third and Jorgensen looks to clinch and control in order to recover. Mizugaki lands a number of jabs before Jorgensen retaliates with a combination of his own. Mizugaki keeps coming forward but is countered well by Jorgensen on the feet before securing a takedown. Mizugaki gets back up before gaining a takedown of his own. Jorgensen gives up his back before reversing the situation and ending up in side control of Mizugaki. The fight returns to the feet momentarily as Mizugaki again trips his opponent to the ground and goes to work with ground and pound to finish the fight strongly.

Jorgensen made a statement in this one, defeating one of the toughest bantamweight in the world in impressive fashion. Rumour has it that he could be the man to welcome former 135 pound champion, Miguel Torres back to the cage in March following this recent success.
