QUOTE

Former PRIDE open weight champion, Mirko Cro Cop tonight picked up as expected an easy win over late stand-in, Anthony Perosh at UFC 110 in Sydney, Australia, stopping the Aussie with a brutal cut sustained during the second round.

Both men came out looking to throw the hands, exchanging in the middle of the octagon before Perosh shoots in for the takedown. Cro Cop defends it well and uses the guillotine to nullify the attempt and bring the fight back to the feet. Cro Cop begins to stalk Perosh around the octagon, landing a nice combination that has the Australian hurt. Perosh shoots in again but it’s stuffed. Perosh attempts to pull guard but Cro Cop has none of it, landing brutal ground and pound before backing out. Cro Cop lands a hard kick to the body as he continues to back Perosh up. The Croatian continues to land heavy handed combinations as the clock runs down.

Cro Cop lands a nice uppercut to begin the second round, before sprawling and landing repeated punches. The pair stand and Cro Cop lands a heavy body kick which is answered by a punch and kick from Perosh. Perosh shots in but again it’s stuffed and the Croatian allows the fight back to the feet. Cro Cop surprisingly drops into the guard of Perosh with a minute remaining and, just when you might think the Australian has a chance of turning the tide, Cro Cop lands a devastating elbow which splits open the nose and head of Perosh. The doctor inspects it and to the amazement of everyone, Perosh insists the fight continues. Perosh land a kick on the restart before eating a hook. Perosh looks to shoot in but it’s stuffed and Cro Cop goes to work, landing vicious punches up to the final bell. The doctor in the break decided to call the fight, handing a TKO win to Mirko Cro Cop.

A wins a win for Cro Cop inside the octagon but I’m sure he was hoping for a real test against one of the top heavyweights in the world. As for Perosh, he showed some real heart in this one and could be rewarded by a shot at his natural weight of 205 pounds by the UFC.
