QUOTE UFC heavyweight contender, Cain Velasquez made the biggest statement of his career tonight at UFC 110 in Sydney, Australia, knocking out legendary Brazilian, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in the very first round.
The pair came out exchanging punches with Velasquez landing the odd leg kick. Velasquez scores repeatedly and makes his opponent miss. Velasquez repeatedly lands the jab followed by a leg kick. Velasquez lands a nice knee to the body before both men exchange again. As they both look to land at the same time, Velasquez lands and Nogueira misses, resulting in the Brazilian hitting the canvas. A series of punches to the chin see Nogueira unconscious and the referee stepping in.
Velasquez has certainly proved he belongs amongst the elite in the heavyweight division with the most impressive performance of his career to date. I’m sure he will be keeping one eye on the interim title clash between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin as he looks for his own shot at the title. As for Nogueira it’s going to be interesting to see what is next for the Brazilian. Is he still relevant in the modern heavyweight division? |
