Ed Soares confirms that Paulo Filho is still battling those same old demons

Ed Soares, the manager of former WEC middleweight champion, Paulo Filho, has confirmed that the talented ground wizard is still battling those old demons of his, going some way to explaining why he recently pulled out of a Bitetti Combat event in Brazil.

Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Soares said:

“Ever since that situation with Chael Sonnen, he's been fighting through (issues). There's only so much we can do. We love Paulo; he's a great person, he's incredible. But he's going through some issues. He's having some family problems. He put himself back together to fight Manhoef, and he's been winning some fights, but he's still going through a tough thing.”

“It's obvious his situation wasn't created in one or two days, so it's not going to get fixed in one or two days. It's going to be a process to get himself out.”

After seemingly recovering from drug and depression issues a year ago it’s sad to see this talented fighter back in the mire. From everyone at MMABay we wish him well and a speedy recovery.
