QUOTE Former UFC heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski has inked a multi-fight, sixteen month contract with Strikeforce according to a latest report.
According to MMB sources close to the negotiations revealed the deal was done on Monday and that “The Pitbull’s” first fight will likely come on May 15th against former Elite XC heavyweight champion, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in St. Louis, Missouri.
Arlovski was last seen in a Strikeforce cage last June when he was knocked out by Brett Rogers in just 22 seconds. He has not been seen since in MMA action although he did hold his own in a four-round boxing exhibition fight with former heavyweight contender, Fres Oquendo.
Arlovski hit his peak back in 2005 when he defeated Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight title. At that point he was seemingly unstoppable, that was until back-to-back losses to Sylvia dented his confidence. |
